Advocacy and Campaign Manager

The Advocacy and Campaign Manager will be responsible for leading strategic interventions in countries across the world, focusing mostly on the countries where wealth taxes are being considered by political leaders. The interventions will include shaping the public narrative, coalition strengthening, and policy  development and implementation. The role will also use the momentum and lessons learned from these countries to influence debates in other countries where there is potential for a wealth tax to move higher up the political agenda.

The role would be dynamic and flexible but could mean focusing on the following during the first 12 months:

  • – Scoping where wealth taxes are being proposed and/or where there is real momentum for their implementation. (This could for example include: Argentina, Bolivia, Portugal, Germany, South Africa as well as Scandinavian countries.)
  • – Building relationships with people working at the national level in support of the introduction of wealth taxes, and work to establish which interventions could help influence the narrative on wealth taxation at the national level and rolling these out at opportune moments.
  • – In coordination with the Community Engagement Manager, working for members to speak out in support of wealth taxes. Catalysing and coordinating influential economists, thought leaders and other influential national, regional and international media to jointly and publicly advocate for a wealth tax.
  • – Working to showcase examples of countries that have introduced wealth taxation at the national and global level; bringing together political representatives who have been involved in the introduction of national wealth taxes where they already exist to offer advice to countries considering the introduction of such taxes.
  • – Strategic media engagement that could include polling, letters by influential people, research, and statements from MfH members.

Role requirements

  • Exceptional experience leading international influencing on tax.
  • Exceptional experience combining lobbying, research, media, and popular campaigning.
  • Experience in “start-up” initiatives, working in multi-country teams, and building alliances.
  • Flexible, catalytic, able to deliver without detailed supervision, and a great team player internally and externally.
  • Solid research and analytical skills.
  • Hands-on experience with political decision-making processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Already have a significant network of relevant contacts.
  • Solid experience with IT-systems and database management.

Community Engagement Manager

The Community Engagement Manager for Millionaires for Humanity will lead on the processes of bringing in, supporting and retaining a growing community of wealthy people to speak out in favour of taxes on the wealth of people like them. They will ensure that the members are able to effectively contribute the success of advocacy, and that members are and feel effectively supported and connected in and motivated to engage in ongoing ways.

The role would be dynamic and flexible but could mean focusing on the following during the first 12 months:

  • – Scoping out possible new members and coordinating engagement of them.
  • – Learning from current members the tailored ways they need to be supported and would like to be engaged.
  • – Landscape mapping, news and insight capture, and creation of talking points and messaging to support the Community to become confident advocates for the campaign.
  • – In coordination with the Advocacy and Campaign Manager, working for members to speak out in support of wealth taxes.
  • – Designing and implementing an engagement strategy based on Community
    input, to include:

    • Sharing of latest news and content
    • Convening and opportunity spotting for joint working to achieve the campaign’s aims
    • Helping shape informative and engaging events
    • Organising reward and recognition for Community members
    • Creating a sense of belonging to the Community
    • Upskilling Community members with tools and skills for successful advocacy
    • Continually updating and maintaining the case
  • Acting as the key point of contact and ongoing relationship management with Community members and their teams.
  • System and process design and maintenance to ensure the efficient running of the Community. Evaluation design and impact tracking to evidence advocacy and campaign effectiveness via the Community.

Role requirements:

  • Exceptional experience in engaging high net worth individuals on social issues.
  • Exceptional experience in designing and managing processes to make sure nothing falls through the gaps, and in helping to retain and develop engagement of stakeholders.
  • Experience in “start-up” initiatives, working in multi-country teams, and building alliances.
  • Flexible, catalytic, able to deliver without detailed supervision, and a great team player internally and externally.
  • Solid experience with CRM-systems and database management.
  • Desirable: experience in wealth management.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communications skills.
  • Fluency in English essential and in other languages desired. Danish language would be an asset.
  • Already have a significant network of relevant contacts.
