Who Is Gary Stevenson?
Gary Stevenson grew up in Ilford, East London, in a family struggling in poverty. At 16, he was expelled from school, but he didn’t give up. He studied hard, got top grades, and earned a place at the London School of Economics. In 2008, he won a trading competition and was hired by Citibank. Just a few years later, he became one of the bank’s most successful traders, making millions by betting on how rising inequality would affect the economy.
But instead of celebrating his success, Gary felt something was wrong. He realized that the system was broken, and he was making money because so many others were struggling. In 2014, he left the world of finance and went back to school to study economics at Oxford, hoping to understand how inequality was shaping the world.
In 2020, he started a YouTube channel called GarysEconomics to explain economic issues simply. He speaks out about unfair tax systems, rising poverty, and the need to fix the economic mess. In 2024, he published his book “The Trading Game”, sharing his story and warning about where the economy is heading.
Today, Gary is a leading voice for economic change, fighting to make the system fair for everyone.
