Edna Adan Hospital Foundation

We’ve partnered with ConnectHER to support Edna Adan, the pioneering activist featured in Half the Sky. In Somaliland, where maternal mortality is among the highest in the world, Edna’s hospital has trained over 1,500 health professionals and safely delivered more than 30,000 babies.

With support from ConnectHER and our involvement, her recent projects include a national study on childbirth and providing free C-sections for women with high-risk conditions. Her work not only advances maternal health but also challenges harmful traditions like FGM.

Edna is known as he “Mother Teresa of Somaliland” and her mission is to train 1,000 midwives is transforming lives across the country.
